Photography as metaphor on life
January 10, 2009
It’s been an ugly week outside. Dirty snow, ice, rain, snow, sleet, slush, more ice and yet, my assignment of finding beauty in the ordinary has worked. I’ve eeked a couple of minutes of my lunch hour, mainly while doing errands in familiar places, to try to capture some beauty to post on my photo blog. I succeeded. Why the title of photography as metaphor on life? It’s all to easy to be swept away by busyness and sameness and the ugly to not notice the beauty that still exists all around. Even taking a few minutes to stop and look and see can change an attitude into gratitude. A meditation on the strength of light, or lack thereof, angles, the way plants won’t give up and completely die despite the circumstances. So stop – clear your mind – and really look around you – be still and honor your gifts.
A Positive Note
December 20, 2008
Today will be my seventh day of photo blogging – a photo a day – and I’m finding this frustrating (lack of light / lack of time), but also very fulfilling. It’s opening up my eyes and senses in the darkest time of the year.
Calm
December 17, 2008
Trying to remain calm, in the midst of so much to do at home and at work, while trying to be detached (sure!) from my far away daughter’s issues. I did start my photo blog & trying not to worry about the anti-natural light photography weather in the forecast. Trying, trying, but really tired.
