My Adventure
February 22, 2009
Going to a new place for errands did not work well. I may have saved a couple of dollars, but the place was far away and a mob scene, so I won’t be doing that again. For some things, sameness is the best option. On the way back, I did find a beautiful place to walk my dog and take photos so all was not lost. I’ve been knitting for four nights now, for the first time in over a year, and it is very soothing. Today the challenge is to find a nice dog walk place and a grubby area to photograph before the rains begin and then errands, rides, bills, cleaning, cooking, calls and knitting. Weekends are just too short.
Obstacles
February 18, 2009
Today a lunch meeting, tomorrow a lunch date. How to take photos without time? I’ll have to try to fit it in this morning & next before work. Trying to ignore the forecast of snow again, now that most of it has melted. From my understanding, the new stimulus package would help me immeasurably – if I hadn’t been paying my bills, but since I have, it won’t. This is a random post, but the other thing on my mind is my joy of leaving work and finding that it was not totally dark yet yesterday. I started my knitting project last night and it felt good. I hadn’t knit for nearly a year.
Another Day
January 12, 2009
Back to work, meeting, luncheon, snow, but after my break from photography yesterday, I’m ready to go back to that today. I did bake & cook & picked out new knitting and crochet projects yesterday, so I was creative, just in a different fashion. I shoveled, cleaned out my yarn stash and sorted stuff around the house. It was a relaxing, no pressure day and that was nice.
Different Kinds of Art
December 11, 2008
Photography is the study of light and light has been in short supply lately. I’m thinking of a supplemental kind of art for the winter, the equivalent of baking instead of gardening. A friend mentioned someone I used to know, who is a fabric artist and has been very prolific since the last time we met. She has made one small piece per week for the last 10 years. Looking at knitting blogs, there are people who make one thing per day (a square) or one pair of socks per month. Cruising around the web, I ran into a Willard Wigan, who makes sculptures that fit into the eye of a needle. Amazing. I used to draw and paint with watercolors, but haven’t done that in a long time. I used to knit or crochet daily in the winter, not doing that either. Hmm, then there is indoor photography – still lifes and scans. I know the best way to not be blocked is to do something every day, so it would be nice to find something that is not seasonally prohibitive.
