My Adventure
February 22, 2009
Going to a new place for errands did not work well. I may have saved a couple of dollars, but the place was far away and a mob scene, so I won’t be doing that again. For some things, sameness is the best option. On the way back, I did find a beautiful place to walk my dog and take photos so all was not lost. I’ve been knitting for four nights now, for the first time in over a year, and it is very soothing. Today the challenge is to find a nice dog walk place and a grubby area to photograph before the rains begin and then errands, rides, bills, cleaning, cooking, calls and knitting. Weekends are just too short.
Sameness
February 21, 2009
After a couch nap and nine hours of solid sleep, waking up naturally, I am excited about a day without work and going on an adventure. Breaking from my sameness routine, I’m going to a new area to do errands, take my dog for a walk and take photos. Then we are going out to dinner at a new place. Sometimes a little shake-up from routine can mean the world. Of course I am just planning this now and who knows how it will turn out. It’s still cold and windy and there’s a lot to do on the home front this weekend. I was mindful yesterday of being on time and present at work, so that made that better. Structure and routine can be good, but if that’s all there is to one’s life, not leaving room for spontaneity or creativity, it really does dampen the soul.
Taking Time
February 15, 2009
My dog and I went to my new spot yesterday and had a lovely time. We met a woman with two wonderful dogs. She and I talked while the dogs ran and played. I also read for a while, which precipitated an unplanned nap and puttered around the house. No, I didn’t get much done, compared to a usual Saturday, but it was so much better than usual.
New Spot
February 13, 2009
I found a new spot yesterday, to walk with or without my dog. A new place to photograph, a new place to find quietude in the midst of a crowded city. This makes me happy. The snow is melting, a three day weekend is coming up and that too makes me happy.
My Dog

There’s something so wonderful about watching a happy dog. We went to a park yesterday and he ran and ran, with other dogs and alone. He was very respectful of joggers, bike riders and dogs on leash. It was seeing and experiencing the pure joy of living in the present – fascinated by the icing on the pond, the snow on the path, the brisk air, another dog around every corner.
