Creativity
February 12, 2009
I finished my crochet project last night. It has been nice to add this little part of creativity on top of the photography. Think I’ll do some knitting and baking this upcoming long weekend.
There are bits of bare ground here and there finally and I can see little green tips of plants popping out of the ground.
Making Time
February 11, 2009
I was determined to incorporate some creative me time yesterday and it worked. Eventually, my energy came back after spending some time at lunch photographing, taking a long hot shower at night and then crocheting. Lesson learned, but not always given the attention it deserves. Going to try to do the same today. One day at a time.
Another Day
January 12, 2009
Back to work, meeting, luncheon, snow, but after my break from photography yesterday, I’m ready to go back to that today. I did bake & cook & picked out new knitting and crochet projects yesterday, so I was creative, just in a different fashion. I shoveled, cleaned out my yarn stash and sorted stuff around the house. It was a relaxing, no pressure day and that was nice.
Different Kinds of Art
December 11, 2008
Photography is the study of light and light has been in short supply lately. I’m thinking of a supplemental kind of art for the winter, the equivalent of baking instead of gardening. A friend mentioned someone I used to know, who is a fabric artist and has been very prolific since the last time we met. She has made one small piece per week for the last 10 years. Looking at knitting blogs, there are people who make one thing per day (a square) or one pair of socks per month. Cruising around the web, I ran into a Willard Wigan, who makes sculptures that fit into the eye of a needle. Amazing. I used to draw and paint with watercolors, but haven’t done that in a long time. I used to knit or crochet daily in the winter, not doing that either. Hmm, then there is indoor photography – still lifes and scans. I know the best way to not be blocked is to do something every day, so it would be nice to find something that is not seasonally prohibitive.
